Féerie Florale - Henricus Salon
Lights and Shadows: Floral installations in the play of light and darkness
Between light and shadow, a silent poetry unfolds - a visual language that touches beyond words. In this installation, flowers emerge from their familiar environment and become carriers of emotion, memory and change. The flower, a symbol of transience and beauty, meets the fleeting play of light and darkness. By targeted light guidance, contours are emphasized, silhouettes are distorted, colors are changed.
Shadows dance over flower petals, rays of light penetrate transparent calyxes and throw fragile patterns on the walls. What is alive suddenly appears abstract; what seems ephemeral receives a moment of eternity through the staging of light. The installation invites you to see flowers not only as floral objects, but as emotional projection surfaces. Sometimes mysteriously hidden in the dark, sometimes revealed in the bright light - each flower tells a diLerent story, depending on how the light falls.
Thoughts & approach to concept creation
How do you prepare for the event?
- Theme and floral implementation (basic considerations)
- The theme should relate to the floral design
- Coordination of floral objects concerning the venue
- Creating sketches, color concepts, mood boards
- Selection of suitable flowers and natural materials
- Proportions: the floral pieces should also emphasize the character of the venue
- Balance between opulence and lightness
- The basic structures are developed weeks in advance, partially assembled, and transported to Alden Biesen. On build-up days, the final installation and floral detailing will be carried out on-site.
What style and techniques do you want to show off?
- A variety of floral dresses matching the theme, created with highly detailed techniques, will be presented in the Henricus Tower Room
- Wire-twisting technique
- Gluing technique
- The floral installation in Salon Henricus will consist of four differently sized round/plate-shaped objects on pedestals.
- Due to technical aspects, material use, and lighting installations, the theme will be showcased optimally (webbing technique, wrapping technique, wire-twisting).
Can you already tell something about how you will fill in the “Lights and Shadows” theme?
