Féerie Florale - Henricus Tower
Floral dresses - a play of light and shadow
Floral dresses transform the castle into a stage for fashion, art and nature. The extraordinary collection consists of floral materials: transparent, filigree, opulent.
Light, translucent clothes meet dark, dense shapes. The focus is on the field of tension between light and shadow, transparency and darkness, lightness and opulence. Expressive silhouettes and detailed craftsmanship give every creation a special presence. The light penetrates leaves, casts shadows - a poetic interplay. The viewer experiences nature and fashion in a new way: sensual, inspiring, surprising
Thoughts & approach to concept creation
How do you prepare for the event?
- Theme and floral implementation (basic considerations)
- The theme should relate to the floral design
- Coordination of floral objects concerning the venue
- Creating sketches, color concepts, mood boards
- Selection of suitable flowers and natural materials
- Proportions: the floral pieces should also emphasize the character of the venue
- Balance between opulence and lightness
- The basic structures are developed weeks in advance, partially assembled, and transported to Alden Biesen. On build-up days, the final installation and floral detailing will be carried out on-site.
What style and techniques do you want to show off?
- A variety of floral dresses matching the theme, created with highly detailed techniques, will be presented in the Henricus Tower Room
- Wire-twisting technique
- Gluing technique
- The floral installation in Salon Henricus will consist of four differently sized round/plate-shaped objects on pedestals.
- Due to technical aspects, material use, and lighting installations, the theme will be
showcased optimally (webbing technique, wrapping technique, wire-twisting).
Can you already tell something about how you will fill in the “Lights and Shadows” theme?
Floral installations playing with light and shadow — between light and shadow unfolds a poetry — a visual language that touches beyond words. In these installations, flowers emerge from their usual environment and become carriers of emotion. The bloom, symbolizing transience and beauty, meets the fleeting play of light and darkness. The installation invites viewers to see flowers not just as floral objects but as emotional projection surfaces. Sometimes hidden mysteriously in darkness; other times revealed in radiant light — each flower tells a different story depending on how the light falls.
